    For by it's rays

    On Halloween

Dracula's Theme Song - Free Sheet Music

By M Ryan Taylor on Aug 19, 2008 | In Piano / Vocal | Send feedback »

Bela Lugosi Stamp"Dracula’s Theme Song" was written to go along with the opening credits of the old Bela Lugosi "Dracula" which uses the famous tune from "Swan Lake." Usually I don’t go putting words to famous tunes, but one night I was watching this film last year close to Halloween and ‘inspiration’ struck. This is completely tongue-in-cheek; I hope it makes you smile as much as I do when singing it. Please be as melodramatic as possible!

Here is the score:

Here are the words seperately if you like:

Incidentally, there is almost no music in the "Dracula" movie, except for the opening credits and a scene at the opera. There was a new score done by Philip Glass performed by the Kronos Quartet, but a copy of that version is not easy to find. Personally, I like watching it both ways; it gives me an excuse to watch it twice. I also enjoy the Spanish version that was filmed on the same sets at the same time for simultaneous release with the English version: the Spanish Dracula is very different.

A Classic Halloween Love Song : "Say that we're Sweethearts Again"

By M Ryan Taylor on Aug 18, 2008 | In Listen & Download | Send feedback »

I heard this song recently in a live concert and thought it was hilarious. This is a classic performance by Virginia O’Brien:

Consequently, this song was also covered by Harlequin in the animated Batman series (one of those random browsing finds):

Zombie Jamboree : one of my favorite Halloween songs

By M Ryan Taylor on Aug 16, 2008 | In Listen & Download | Send feedback »

. . . and as far as I know one of the only Calypso style Halloween songs:

As performed by the mighty Rockapella. Zombies and Calypso do seem to go hand in hand if you think about it.

OK. This actually had a huge impact on me as a kid. I loved listening to this on Halloween night. My mum and dad had to limit the number of times that we were allowed to listen to it. I think I was about 5.

If you watch the old Bela Lugosi Dracula you will hear the theme from Swan Lake during the opening credits. I just couldn’t resist the urge one night as I was watching the film to jot down some words to go along with the tune. Now you can sing along next Halloween when you watch it.
