This is one of those activities that you’re going to need to prepare your guests for with an announcement included in your party invitation. Let them know they should bring something for the open mic; a ghost story, spooky poem, halloween song, etc.
Holding an open mic is simple. In small gatherings:
- Sit in a circle.
- Turn lights out and turn on a flashlight.
- Whoever holds the flashlight is at the Mic (they point the flashlight up under their face for an eery effect).
- The person can then tell their ghost story, etc.
- The flashlight is then passed on to the next person who is now at the Mic.
- Continue until everyone has had a chance to be at the Mic.
For larger groups you may actually need a mic. Depending on the type of mic it can be passed around or people can walk up to the front of the group to the mic.
Open mics are incredibly fun. Add one to your Halloween party this year.
